At the coin’s heart sits a striking central plaque, engraved with the inscription: ‘Victory in Europe – 8 May 1945’ – a powerful tribute to the day peace was restored. Above the plaque stands the Cypher Crown of King George VI—a tribute to Britain’s wartime King. Throughout the Blitz, he and Queen Elizabeth refused to leave London, remaining at Buckingham Palace even as it was bombed. The inclusion of King George VI’s Royal Cypher is a mark of steadfast leadership—a symbol of courage, unity, and resilience.  Encircling the central plaque are the flags of the Allied nations, a powerful reminder of the unity that secured victory. Beneath the plaque, two sculpted palm leaves extend outward—a timeless symbol of victory, peace, and remembrance.

On the obverse, the coin bears the official effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, sculpted by renowned artist Glyn Davies. This pairing—King George VI’s Cypher on the reverse, King Charles III’s portrait on the obverse—connects past and present, ensuring that the memory of VE Day endures for future generations.
