On the 11th hour, of the 11 month, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice

2020 marked the 100th anniversary of the Unknown Warrior — an unidentified British serviceman who died on the battlefields and was buried at Westminster Abbey. The tomb of the Unknown Warrior remains a solemn tribute to all service personnel who have lost their lives in combat. The Unknown Warrior symbolises all those who were killed in battle (originally in World War I but since then in any war or conflict), whether lowly private or high-ranking officer. Nobody knows who he was, nobody knows his rank, his number, his regiment or his name – all that is known is that he was killed on a European Battlefield, but as to which one, even that isn’t known. The idea was that the man so interred truly would be nobody and everybody – representative of all.
