The coin seamlessly honours the intertwined history of King Edward III and the legend of St. George – impossible to achieve on a traditional coin. The antiqued silver half recalls the enduring legacy of King Edward III, founder of the chivalric Order of the Garter, a brotherhood mirroring the mythic Knights of the Round Table from Arthurian legend of which St. George was appointed patron saint in 1348. The reigning British monrach still serves as head of the order; it is now King Charles III who personally appoints Knights and Ladies of the Garter.

As you turn the coin to admire the ornamental filagree and selectively applied gold layering, the fierce battle with beast plays out – the foremost story of faith in Christianity and courage to overcome evil with good. The final turn of the coin reveals the princess safely on horseback with her saviour, symbolising St. George’s noble victory over the dragon – the end of a hero’s tale but a lasting tribute to loyalty and valour.

Crafted in 99.9% Pure Silver with Selective Pure Gold Layering

Minted in 99.9% pure silver, the crafting process begins with a series of artist’s drawings to interpret the legend of St. George. The drawings are then transposed into a three dimensional model interwoven with filigree to create the sphere. A critical inspection follows; the model is then 3D printed in order to carefully check the design integrity and detail – an essential step in creating the master tools needed to produce the coin. The two coin hemispheres are then minted and seamlessly bonded and the unique edition numbering engraved into the band. Finally, selective pure gold layering is meticulously applied to St. George, illuminating every intricate detail to bring his courageous tale to life.

Only 95 Coins Remain from the 250 World-Wide Mintage

The advanced minting technique behind the crafting of this world-first fully spherical filigree coin is a process that cannot be rushed, limiting the mintage to just 250 worldwide of which only 95 coins reamain. Numbers 1-100 (the lowest in the edition) have been reserved exclusively for Heritage Coins collectors.
