Pay tribute to all those who took part in D-Day - a defining date in history with the Five Crowns for Five Beaches Coin
On 6 June 2019, we commemorated the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. Across the country, and across the channel, nations, dignitaries and veterans gathered to remember the courage and sacrifice of all those who took part in the D-Day landings. The day began with a lone piper playing a lament on Port Winston signalling the minute the invasion began and the moment the first British soldier landed on Gold beach.
To commemorate the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, the magnificent Five Crowns for Five Beaches Coin was struck to an immaculate proof finish and layered with pure silver.
What makes this coin truly exceptional is that the design has been accented with sand from the D-Day landing beaches making this the very first coin of it’s kind ever issued.
Accented with Sand from the D-Day Landing Beaches
The D-Day landings in 1944 took place across five beaches codenamed Sword, Juno, Gold, Omaha and Utah. It is the sand from these very beaches which has been hand applied to each individual coin - a time-consuming process undertaken by the most highly skilled craftsmen and applied in a manner which outlines the Normandy coastline where the allied forces landed.
Just 1,944 coins issued and individual numbering makes each coin unique
Officially approved by Buckingham Palace for release, The Five Crowns for Five Beaches Coin is layered in fine 999 Silver. Just 1,944 coins have been released, an exceptionally small mintage for such a historic commemorative issue. Each coin is uniquely numbered within the edition limit – which means no two pieces are the same. Your piece is completely unique to you, making it the ultimate collectors’ edition. A strict application procedure is in place with priority established on a ‘first come first served basis’. The earliest orders will receive the lowest edition numbers.
An exceptional ‘supersize’ 65mm Five Crown coin
Each coin is struck not once but twice onto a specially prepared mirror surface, allowing every nuance and detail of the artist's design to be appreciated. Minted in a ‘supersize’ 65mm, the impressively large diameter (almost three times larger than a £1 coin) allows for exquisite detail and clarity. The assaults on the five beaches were led by three allied nations, Great Britain, Canada and USA. The coin’s design reflects the contribution made by each nation. Look closely and you will see that the soldiers’ cast their reflections on the sand in the form of the national flags from each of their home nations.
Free presentation box & certificate of authenticity
The coin comes presented in a bespoke presentation case individually encapsulated to protect and preserve both the coin and Normandy sand, which has been hand applied by skilled craftsmen. Included with your coin is an informative Certificate of Authenticity.
Act quickly a sell-out is expected
This issue limit of 1,944 coins is an exceptionally small mintage for such a historic commemorative issue and given the significance of the occasion which this coin commemorates, we expect worldwide demand to exceed the number of coins minted.
